The Coffee Farmhouse

"The quality of coffee is judged based on its aroma, and not the flavor..."
This is just one of the many coffee trivia and tidbits we learned when we visited The Coffee Farmhouse in Cavite last June 20, 2010.
recreational activities available: swimming, badminton/volleyball, billiards, board games, table tennis, bicycles, etc. They also have a collection of books, magazine and DVD's that you can borrow. Of course, picture-taking is a MUST!!!
What is The Coffee Farmhouse all about? As quoted from their website:
"We invite you to visit our farm and garden on the peaceful outskirts of Tagaytay. A serene setting of coffee trees and flowering plants creates the perfect ambiance for a relaxing stay. Whether you wish to discover the charm of a country lifestyle or treat your family and friends to a homelike atmosphere, or hold a seminar in a more intimate setting, THE COFFEE FARMHOUSE will let you experience a refreshingly new way to have a vacation."
The farmhouse owners limit the number of visitors they accommodate to ensure a relaxed environment and personalized service to their guests. And I must say, we got to experience both these and even more during our day trip!
The day trip rate is P775/head (P650/child) with discounts for groups of at least 7. This is already inclusive of an ala-carte lunch, afternoon snack, a fan-cooled room (1 room per 7 people), free-flowing water and their homegrown Barako coffee, and free use of all facilities.

What we had for lunch that day: lumpiang ubod with yummy peanut sauce, tender dory fillets with tartar sauce and sweet ripe mangoes. For snack, we had creamy carbonara with bacon. Food was just simple and comforting home-cooked fare... no heavy preservatives or spices.
I'm not really a coffee-drinker, so I can't say that I'm a coffee expert. I was able to drink 2 cups of their brewed coffee... The aroma was very rich and the bitter flavor was just right. The best thing about it is that it didn't leave me with an acidic stomach, as some commercialized coffee tend to do. You may take home some of their coffee beans for only P80/pack.
As for the place itself, the area is not that big so prior reservations are required. Based on my own estimate, it can only accommodate maximum of 30-40 people. We weren't able to take a lot of pictures of the different sights around The Coffee Farmhouse as we were too busy taking pictures of ourselves and each other.
Here are some of the few that I was able to take:

I recommend that you bring an insect repellant with you, especially if you're going to walk through the gardens. Some of us got attacked by mosquitoes and ants!
Overall, The Coffee Farmhouse is for those who are looking for a place to bond and relax with family and friends, those who want to enjoy a quiet retreat away from the busy city life, those who are looking for an un-crowded place for a photo-shoot (like us!), those who enjoy being with nature, and of course, for all coffee-lovers!

Till next time!!! :)
