Inspiration Corner: Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart... a name I've known as long as I can remember. I always associated the name "Martha Stewart" with food, crafts and other "housewife" sort of hobbies. I had this picture in my mind "Martha Stewart- The Perfect Housewife", something that didn't really interest me before...
Until recently, when I came across an article in the internet about her modelling past.

One particular line from the article caught my attention, "She seemed to be able to juggle everything with style and elegance- much like she does today." Juggling everything with style and elegance- isn't that something that all women would like to achieve? With everything that demands our attention nowadays... family, relationships, work, organizations, home, health... how do we manage them all and still come out looking as perky and fresh as Martha always does? Even in this age of feminism and equal rights, I still have this dream of coming home from work, cooking yummy and healthy food for my future husband and children, keeping the house clean and designed artistically, having time to do my crafts...
I became interested in Martha Stewart and her works that I visited Powerbooks just to browse through her books... I found her Encyclopedia of Crafts and was engrossed for the next half hour.

That was it... I was hooked! I started visiting www.marthastewart.com everyday, subscribed to her newsletters (which unfortunately, due to my lack of ability to "juggle everything gracefully", are all archived and still mostly unread in my Martha Stewart gmail folder). The website is packed with a lot of goodies... easy crafts and recipe's to follow, money-saving tips and budgeting tools... She even has a portion that is entirely dedicated to planning your perfect wedding, with all the tools that you need. I don't know where she gets such amazing and rich ideas!

I found out that Martha Stewart is not just "The Perfect Housewife" but she has used her creativity, "housewife" skills and talents to become a very successful entrepreneur. Her list of achievements is endless! From her website:
Martha's creative vision is the blueprint for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and the expansive multimedia and merchandising portfolio that includes award-winning magazines such as Martha Stewart Living and Martha Stewart Weddings; the nationally syndicated, Emmy Award-winning television series "The Martha Stewart Show"; Martha Stewart Living Radio on Sirius XM; the marthastewart.com website; best-selling books like "Martha Stewart's Cooking School" and "Martha Stewart's Homekeeping Handbook"; the Martha Stewart Collection of products for the home at Macy's; Martha Stewart Everyday mass-market merchandise at Kmart; Martha Stewart Crafts with EK Success; Martha Stewart Furniture with Bernhardt; Martha Stewart-designed homes and communities with KB Home; Martha Stewart Rugs with Safavieh; and more.
I don't plan to achieve as much as Martha Stewart has achieved (and counting) in her lifetime... But she inspires me to be a complete woman... Someone who can be successful at home and at work. For me, she is the epitome that The Successful Entrepreneur/Career Woman and The Perfect Housewife really can mix!
I hope that I can meet her someday (LOL... really big dream)! In the meantime, I'm just happy to keep on learning about her and from her.
To Martha Stewart, all the best!
